2023 update: Alive, but blown down and no longer qualifies for big tree register.
2017 update: National champ in 2017, but dethroned in 2018, and regained crown in 2019. The tree appears very healthy and sound. Trunk circumference measured 1' above ground because trunk splits above this level.
