Comments: 2022 update: The tree is fruiting nicely and has been recently released by the death of a neighboring black locust and a large white oak losing a limb. Appears healthy and not majorly threatened by vines at this time.
2012: Tree is growing in the 12-acre old-growth forest on the Virginia Tech campus known as Stadium Woods. Threatened by invasive vines, but otherwise doing well.
2012 measurements: 12" circumference, 24' height, 15' crown spread; 40 points. Measured by John Seiler and Jeff Kirwan.

Directions: GPS coordinates are approximate. It is not far from the north edge of the woods. Walk straight into the woods from the western-most tennis court and the tree is located about 20 yards from the forest edge. If entering the woods on the main trail behind the tennis courts, tree is approximately 8 feet left of the path 15 feet from the entrance.
