Comments: 2022 update: Declared dead 7/13/22 by Eric Wiseman and Moriah Moss. The top of the tree blew out at approximately 40' above ground. Tree also lost a major co-dominant leader at 3' above ground. Tree is still alive but unlikely to recover, as center is rotted out (and being utilized by a groundhog pictured below). 2011 update: Bracket fungi are present on trunk, but looks OK for an old tree. This was the largest specimen ever measured by the program at that time. |
