Comments: 2023 Comments: Melissa Gildea reported in April 2023 that the tree had been removed. She had visited the tree in January 2023 to check on its condition. At that time, thirty percent of the tree trunk has visible hypoxylon canker. She saw at least two decayed structural roots. There were two very large dead branches, and the tree had lost 1/3 of the canopy, at least. At that time, she suspected decline would advance quickly and the only reason the tree had not died already is that it was so very large and well-managed. 2013 Comments: Located in the fairways of Army Navy Country Club in Arlington. Tree appears to be of old age, in excellent health, and well cared for by grounds staff. Specimen should be safe as long as it remains healthy and does not pose a threat to golf course users. |
