Comments: Tree was originally nominated in 1990 and became national champion in 1991. It was dethroned in 2019 because its measurements had not been updated in over 10 years. A search for the tree in summer 2017 could not locate the tree, but location description was inconsistent with local landmarks, so it is unclear whether the search was in the correct location. Tree was reported as alive and healthy in April 2007, but had a few vines growing in it. Several trees in the grove had fallen down but were still living. When the tree was discovered on 4/22/90, it was in full bloom. | |
