2021 update: This tree was dethroned as national champion by American Forests in 2021 because it was outscored by another tree in Fairfax County, VA.
2018 update: Declared national champion in 2018 and recognized in 2019 as national co-champion with specimen in Fairfax County, VA. Sole national champ in 2020 due to disqualification of Fairfax tree at national level. A healthy, sound tree. Pruned at top, lost height after previous measurement in 2005.
