Comments: Found by Rod Simmons. 2017: This specimen is an old-age tree with some dead wood in the crown. It has produced fertile fruit in the past as evidenced by a number of smaller saplings nearby. It is growing immediately adjacent to a raised wetland walkway and care will be required when performing boardwalk maintenance in the future. Park staff have protected the base from nearby beaver activity with fencing.

Directions: Huntley Meadows Park is located near Rt. 1 in Alexandria. Tree is located along elevated board walk just before arriving at wildlife viewing tower. One tree on the left and one on the right. GPS coordinates are approximate to parking lot. Growing in Huntley Meadows Park off Lockheed Blvd. Tree is growing in a small grove of American Plums, located on either side of the elevated ramp leading to the Observation Tower. To reach the site from the Visitor's Center parking lot, you must traverse the marsh boardwalk leading to the tower. This specimen is the largest of several and is located on the west side of the ramp.
