Comments: One of a pair of privets on the same property. This is the one on the left as facing house. Both have been repeatedly cut back by the power company reducing their height, but they continue to grow back. This one scores scores highest of the two in current condition. It has a hollow in the trunk about 5' above ground where there is a proliferation of branches. It has Japanese hornets nesting inside and a Royal Paulownia seedling growing out of the trunk cavity. The westernmost privet (right as facing house), closer to the power pole, is more sound and will likely live longer. House was constructed in 1940, so this tree could be up to 70 years old. Byron Carmean and Gary Williamson measured in 2007.
