Comments:
2025 comments: The tree remains in great health. There is English ivy growing on the east aspect of the tree, but it doesn't seem to be overtaking it yet. Tree is highly valued by the family and the kids enjoy climbing it. A book about the history of the community shows the tree standing mature next to the house in 1948. Original portion of the house was built in the 1870s. Trunk circumference was measured at narrowest girth between breast height and ground level, which was about 2' above mid-slope ground.
2019 comments: The tree is very healthy and not in any danger at this time. Note: Trunk circumference was measured at narrowest girth above ground line (1'7") due to low branches. New state champion in 2019. The measurements by Greg Estoll were 248", 80', and 83' for a total of 349 points.
2009 comments: Measured by Greg Estoll at 317 points.
