2023 update: The tree is on its last leg. About half of the canopy is in decline and is without foliage. A large leader has fallen out of the tree. Numerous dead branches and hangers. No longer state co-champion.
2021 update: This tree has been dethroned as national champion by another tree in Houston County, Minnesota.
2020 update: Declared national co-champion in 2020 with two other Virginia specimens, one in Bath county and the other in Fairfax county.
2013 update: Measured by Jordan Endahl at 255', 120", 130', 408 points.
