Comments:
2025 comments: Tree was examined by a botanist from the State Arboretum of Virginia. There was suspicion that this tree might be a hybrid with one of the Asiatic Juglans. However, genetic testing revealed that it is a pure butternut. Another tree on a separate property down the road was also found to be pure butternut.
2021 comments: Tree looks healthy and sound. Trunk circumference measured at 2 ft above ground to accommodate for slope.
2010 comments: Tree was previously measured at 153", 66', 60' and 234 points in 2010 by Byron Carmean, Gary Williamson, and Jeff Kirwan.
