Comments: Looking healthy for a tree of that age/size. The only difference Robbie noticed in 2017 was that a large limb has fallen out of the crown, which has shortened up the crown spread a little. Originally nominated as a chestnut oak. Correctly identified as a swamp chestnut oak by Robbie Lewis in 2006.

Directions: In a large tract of timber between Withams Road (to the north) and Horsey Road (to the south), about 1/2 mile west of US Route 13. Located about 330 meters west of the Eastern Shore Railroad that runs north-south through the tract, next to a tributary of the North Branch Holdens Creek (on north side of Holdens creek). Tree is in the center of a ~2 acre reserve delineated to protect it when the surrounding stand was harvested about 17 years ago.
