2022 update: Tree is located on significant slope. Pavement added for overflow parking lot did not appear to severely damage roots. Tree has numerous leaders. Has an extensive buttress and appears to be healthy. Leaders split above 4.5' so circumference was measured 4.5' above the mid-slope of the trunk.
2012 update: The tree is healthy and sound. It should be in a safe area on a slope above the Nansemond River. Measurements by Byron and Jean Carmean and Gary Williamson: circumference 194", height 102', crown 92', points 319.
