2022 update: Declared dead by Joel Koci (jkoci@vsu.edu) on 07/24/2022. The tree was killed due to construction on the property. It was not in the immediate foot print of the new building, but still did not survive construction of the new structure.
Declared national champion in 2017, but dethroned in 2020 by bigger tree in Tennessee. Healthy, yes; Endangered, no. House was built in 1853. A much smaller tree is located nearby at Sabot Hill Farm, but no map is provided. Tree had an ID tag placed on it when last measured. Tag is nearly scarred over.
