2025 comments: The tree possesses a large, fully healthy crown. There is a broad-spreading fork in the trunk at 7' , but no indications of splitting, cracking, or inclusion. Trunk circumference was measured at 3' above the ground at the narrowest girth between 4.5' and ground level to avoid inflation from the flare of the forking trunk.
2024 comments: Recognized as national co-champion with tree in Arlington, VA.
2019 comments: Declared national champion in 2017 and recognized in 2019 as co-champion with another specimen in Arlington, VA.
2017 comments: Tree appears to be healthy and growing in safe location within a cemetery. A small amount of English Ivy was found on trunk and should be kept ivy-free in the future. Trunk forks just above chest height, but no adjustments were necessary. Trunk circumference was measured at 4.5' above ground. The measurements conducted by Greg Zell, Rod Simmons, and Matt Barker were 70", 36', and 61' for a score of 121 points.
