Comments: A beautiful open-grown, single stem specimen. Unusual to find one of this form. Full, healthy crown and no structural defects. It is growing close to a black gum that its crown is growing around, but this shouldn't affect the trunk. It should be safe in this location.

Directions: Jefferson National Forest. Near the base of a broad ridge about 100' from the edge of a large rhododendron thicket. A rock outcrop can be seen about 200' up the ridge from the tree to the southwest. Easiest route to the tree is to follow the National Forest property boundary where it crosses Forest Service Road 179 about .25 miles to the east of the tree and then navigate to the tree using GPS and landmarks.
