Comments: The tree is in good health. There appears to be an old crack running along the trunk with some indications of internal wetwood. This specimen was recently rediscovered while reclaiming an overgrown area. The tree was not tagged and was identified as Cornus walteri based on samples collected over two years. We believe it was misidentified when accessioned. It likely dates to the 1930s.
