2025 comments: Healthy and robust specimen that grows in the floodplain of the stream. This is the tallest tree that the nominators have ever measured in Virginia.

Directions: Tree is about 1.8 miles from the parking lot of Ramsey's Draft Wilderness. The hike has only mild inclines along a rocky, bare-ground trail that crosses the stream several times (no foot bridges). Tree is on the right (east) side of stream from main trail, but is visible from the trail. Best visited in the dormant season when understory vegetation is absent in order to measure height and crown.
