Comments:
2025 comments: The tree is healthy and well cared for by Mr. & Mrs. Jones. Trunk measured at 1' above ground due to low branching. This species, found in Georgia by John Bartrum in 1770, was brought to Pennsylvania. Bartrum's son was named after their neighbor, who was good friends with Benjamin Franklin. The species has not been found in the original habitat since, meaning all current Franklinia trees are from the Bartrum tree lineage.
