Comments:
2026 comments: A double-trunk specimen with significant bark inclusion and ribbed reaction wood that extends from about 6' above ground down to within about 2' above ground. The stems are likely stump sprouts that grew back after the original tree was felled long ago. Tree was left during the most recent forest clearcut around it in 2019. Canopy is full and healthy. Greatest threat to tree is a catastrophic failure of the defective stem union due to crown weight and wind force in the exposed landscape. Trunk measured at 3.3' above mid-slope position on east side of root plate. This was the narrowest trunk girth between ground and 4.5' above ground. Height and crown spread cross-verified with a Lidar scan from May 2020.
