2024 comments: Appears in good condition. Thin canopy on one side, likely due to the shading of the adjacent pine before its removal.

This tree was a national champion tree from 2008 - 2010, until a larger one was found. It is growing in the clearing of a former homesite, adjacent to a forested portion of Lacy Woods Park. Smaller Virginia Pines within the woodlot have been aged at 85+ years. This one is older and much larger. No other historical information known. Located in relative safety in a county park.
