2021 update: A drive by the location by Gary Williamson in February 2021 discovered that the tree is completely gone. The circumstances of its removal are unknown. Former state and national champion.

2013 update: This tree was originally nominated in 1986 and is growing rapidly! It has traded national champion status back and forth with one in Northampton County. Both trees were measured in 2013 and this tree was found to be slightly smaller. Recognized in 2018 as three-way national co-champion with trees in Northampton, VA and Mathews, VA.
