2024 comments: In the process of attempting to recertify this tree, it was discovered that the tree has become confused in the past 10 years with a Nordmann fir that was nominated on the property at the same time in 1988. The photo and measurements of the supposed Veitch fir in 2014 match the information submitted for the Nordmann fir (ID 501) in 2015 and again in 2024. Although there is documentation that the Veitch fir was remeasured in 2007, it seems likely that the Veitch had died sometime prior to that year and that the Nordmann fir was mistakenly measured (because they were described in close proximity to one another in the 1988 nominations). An extensive search was not made of the site in 2024 to determine if the Veitch was being overlooked and might still be alive. Decision was made to change tree status to Legacy since its fate cannot be conclusively determined at this time. Photo of the tree from the 1988 nomination (below) does not provide any clues about the tree's location.
2014 comments (erroneously describing the Nordmann fir): Lost one limb to storm damage, another was removed. Otherwise a very healthy tree.

Note: this description does not match GPS coordinates shown here, which put the tree on the north side of the building. Origin of these coordinates is unknown. The location 200 feet southeast matches better with the Nordmann fir (ID 501).
