Comments:
2023 comments: Tree remains healthy and robust. Trunk was measured at 2.5' due to trunk irregularity. Tree has two dead branches on the trunk at 3.5' above ground that obstruct trunk measurement at 4.5' above ground. Above those branches the trunk is a single leader up to about 10' above ground where the trunk diverges into several large stems.
2015 comments: Tree is along the Potomac River, surrounded by other big trees, and is very healthy. Not recognized as national champion due to irregular trunk (low branches) that require the trunk to be measured at about 2.5' above ground level. Measured in 2015 by Robert Vickers.
