2025 comments: After 10 years, this tree has gained a considerable increase in trunk circumference, which was measured at 2 feet above the ground due to low branching.
2024 comments: Recognized again as national champion.
Declared national champion in 2016 and recognized as national co-champion in 2019, sharing title with a tree in Ohio. The tree should be safe and receives good care.
2015 comments: The trunk comprises three stems that fork at about 3 feet above ground line. Trunk measurement recorded here is the smallest girth between ground level and the trunk fork, which is about 2 feet above ground. Each stem girth was measured at 4.5' above ground in June 2022 and recorded as 83", 82", 58". A composite trunk circumference calculated from these measurements would be 130", which would bring the score down to 232 points. The national co-champion in Ohio has a similar trunk form, so these trees are being similarly compared. First measured in 2015 by Byron Carmean and Gary Williamson, with the measurements of 152", 85', and 68' resulting in a score of 254 points.
