2021 update: This tree has been dethroned by a tree in Bedford County which outscored it
Declared national champion in 2013. The tree is old and hollow, but is continuing to add girth to trunk. The top is starting to show signs of dieback. Last measured in 2013 by Jordan Endahl and Byron Carmean. Circumference: 390", Height: 100', Crown: 83', Points: 511.
